We truly believe that our local animal rescues and those who help run them are heroes. It takes an extraordinary amount of hard work and dedication to run a rescue. We know a big challenge smaller rescues face is receiving emergency grants and funds quickly when urgent cases come in. HAIN Rescue Fund was founded so that every animal gets a chance to live a happy and healthy life. We don't want rescues to have to think twice about saving the one that will need surgery, or the special needs animal who will need ongoing medical care, or the litter of puppies that are scheduled to be euthanized because they all have parvo.
GRANT REQUIREMENTS |
All rescues applying for a grant must meet the following requirements. There is a vetting process so we highly suggest having an application on file to speed up the funding process if one is needed in the future.
- Be a 501c3 animal welfare organization focusing on dogs, cats and/or farmed animals.
- Be based in the U.S.A. AT THIS TIME, WE ARE ONLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FROM RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS IN CALIFORNIA.
- Have an organization that has been actively rescuing animals for a minimum of 6 months. Proof of rescuing and adoption will be required.
- Have a website and social media content that is active and current.
- Explain the organization's process for vetting fosters and foster care protocols.
- Complete a Grant Application and have all required documentation on file.
- Complete an in person or video call interview with someone from our organization.
- Grants MUST be used for animals in your care and must be used as described in the Grant Proposal (a form given only after your application is approved). We DO NOT provide grants to support the day to day business operations or salaries of any rescue organization.
WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW GRANT APPLICATIONS.
HRF is working hard to grow our emergency fund, but at this time we are a small non-profit and have reached our capacity for the number of rescues we can partner with. Please check back periodically for updates. Thank you.
HOW WE DISTRIBUTE FUNDS
We work closely with rescue organizations to assess animals that need financial help from HAIN Inc. All rescues are vetted for legitimacy to make sure they are fulfilling their own mission to help animals and are compliant with section 501(3)(c) of the Internal Revenue Code. We keep records of all animals who we distribute funds to, what the funds are used for, their medical condition, health status, foster care/adoption status and any other information we feel is important or required by law or the Internal Revenue Service.
The rescue organization must describe in detail what the funds will be used for and they can only use the funds to support animals. Distribution of funds / grants can NOT be used to support the day to day operations of any rescue organization such as paying rent, utilities, staff members, etc. We do not provide funds to organizations for business related expenses. All funds must be used for the animal(s) under their care that need financial aid to better their health. If funds are misused, we have the right to request a reimbursement, and we will file a formal complaint with the organization’s board of directors and, if applicable by law, the Internal Revenue Service. |
